Today, on this Mothering Sunday, our dear members of Mothers’Union in Lanzarote gave out flowers after the service in Puerto del Carmen. Reverend Canon Stan Evans gave a wonderful sermon remembering Jesus’ mother Mary and stressed how important mothers’ and families are in our lives. Without them – what support would our children have? Who would they turn to? If you want to find out more about Mothers’ Union and their great work of support – get in touch with our dear Council Member Marilyn Forder who is happy to meet and share with you.A date for your diary: The next Mothers’ Union meeting is next Tuesday at Chaplaincy House in Tias at 2.30 PM, all are welcome (you do not have to be a member of MU to participate).
Mothers’ Union is an International Christian charity that seeks to support families worldwide.
Its members are not all mothers or even all women, as there are many parents, men, widows, singles and grandparents involved in its work.
The founder was Mary Sumner in 1876.
The headquarters are located in London UK (www.mothersunion.org).
The focus is to support family life. It is a charitable organisation.
We have members in 84 countries.
They work to serve their communities whilst offering Christian care for families, regardless of faith or background.
There is a branch in Lanzarote. If you are interested in joining, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
MU on Lanzarote have a meeting once a month from October until March. The February 2021 meeting had to take place on zoom due to the pandemic’s restrictions, but was a great success and a brilliant option to include those who are not on the island at the moment.
The AGM will be on 9th March, and after that the meetings will be resumed in October. If you need more information, please get in touch with us or our Council and MU member Marilyn Forder.
The meeting takes on various formats. It may be a talk, a trip out or a social event held at the Chaplaincy House & Centre.
Please do join us to help raise money for Mothers’ Union charities.
